THE CHILL FOUNDATION HOSTED A CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT TO RAISE
FUNDS FOR DISADVANTAGED YOUTH
 Wednesday: May 9, 2007 : The annual Chill Foundation charity golf tournament was held to raise funds for its North American learn-tosnowboard
programs for at-risk inner city youth, ages 10 to 18. The Chill Foundation introduces kids to
snowboarding and teaches them life lessons and skills, which profoundly impact their daily lives. Burton
Snowboards founded The Chill Foundation in 1995. Golfers included athletes, Rob Machado, Keir
Dillon, Jussi Oksanen, Dave Downing, Tim Curran, Benji Weatherley and actors, Josh
Henderson and Lou Giovannetti.
WHAT: Professional snowboarders, surfers and celebrities teed off to an afternoon of golf, contest and beverage
holes; ending with an evening dinner at the exquisite Club 19. TransWorld Media was the presenting
sponsor and Wahoo’s Fish Taco hosted lunch.
HIGHLIGHTS: The Winning foursome included Burton CEO and President, Laurent Potdevin, as well as, 7-time
National Surfing Champion Rob Machado, legendary snowboarder Dave Downing and pro-surfer Benji
Weatherly.

ABOUT CHILL: Chill is in its 13th year as a nonprofit learn-to-snowboard program for at-risk inner-city kids. Each winter, in
14 different cities across North America, Chill takes 170 kids to the slopes once a week for six weeks and
provides them with everything they need to learn to ride: lift tickets, lessons, transportation, and head-to-toe
gear. Chill uses the vehicle of snowboarding to help kids accomplish goals they never thought they could,
while teaching them some of the most important lessons of life— patience, persistence, responsibility,
courage, integrity, and pride—all through positive adult role models who treat the kids with respect and
