BILLABONG PROUDLY JOINS
PROJECT BLUE AS OFFICIAL BOARDSHORT

Irvine, Calif. – Billabong USA announces it has partnered with project BLUE, the Surf Industry’s national initiative established to raise more than $1 million in support of ocean and beach protection. Billabong will be the exclusive provider of boardshorts for the environment-friendly undertaking.

Protection and Environment- Friendly Products

“We are proud to be involved in this effort,” said Paul Naude, President of Billabong-USA. “Billabong is committed to doing what we can to support the world’s environment, and this project adds to our ongoing contribution.”

Five companies including Electric, Nixon, Reef and DAKINE will produce products in their respective categories that are environmentally sensitive and contribute dollars to the beach protection cause.

In keeping with the Project BLUE ecological focus, Billabong has developed an exclusive fabric called Eco-Suede, a recycled and recyclable pure polyester fiber material with superior quality, function and performance made from recycled textiles and plastic soda bottles.

Billabong will offer three of its most popular boardshort styles, updated and customized specifically for project BLUE. Both the Eco Faultline and the Eco Mexican Sol styles will be available in two color-ways, and the Eco Peppers boardshort, which is the new version of the Red Hot Chili Peppers boardshort collaboration, will also be available. Each of the three will include custom artwork, and an official hangtag identifying it as an official Project Blue style.

“We’re excited to have Billabong join the project BLUE initiative,” said project BLUE Founder Vipe Desai. “Their team has a passion for developing great products and now these products, when sold, will help to protect our coastlines.”

Set to launch in stores in June 2007, the board shorts will be distributed through current Billabong retailers as well as special project BLUE outlets and events, with a royalty being donated to the Surfrider Foundation.
